WILC Shura Intro

As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah Dear Brothers and Sisters of Wilmington Islamic Learning Center,  

We ask Allah subhana wa ta’ala to shower our community with continued mercy, strengthened Imaan and enhanced quality of life in our personal and collective affairs. Ameen. 

During the month of October 2023, we announced (over a series of announcements after Salaatul’ Jumu’ah) that we will be conducting Elections to form the Third Shura Council for Wilmington Islamic Learning Center. We asked the community members to nominate people whom they want to be on the Shura Board. Alhamdhulillah, we got 23 people nominated and out of which 13 People agreed to serve the Board.

On Sunday October 15th, 2023, (11) people out of the 13  were selected thru electronic voting process according to the constitution and by-laws to sit on the Wilmington Islamic Learning Center Shura Board and out of that (11) people, another (5) were elected as Executive Officers of the Board:

• President – Fareeth Ahamed Habeeb Rahman
• Vice President – Ahmad Elgazzar
• Treasurer – Magdy Farag
• Secretary – Sister Cassidy-Jean Blakeley
• Secretary – Mohamed Hamdy Elhenawy
• Officer – Belgacem Hizoum
• Officer – Radwan Elgoumadi
• Officer – Idris Moya
• Officer – Mohammed Niang
• Officer – Khaled I Abdalla
• Officer – Jocelyn Crawford (Sister Khadijah)

We are very excited about the formation of this diverse team of highly educated professionals and dedicated Muslims. We ask Allah Subhanahu wata’la for his guidance and continued support in helping us to fulfill the rights of the Muslims and to allow us the inward vision and outward capacity to unify the hearts of the believers and offer benefit to the collective region in which we live.
